US defense budget by $ 584 billion


BAGHDAD / Obelisk: US House of Representatives passed a defense budget law a $ 584 billion dollars, including five billion in emergency funding for military operations against the "Islamic state" in Syria and Iraq, so responsive desire of President Barack Obama.

These funds are distributed on the $ 3.4 billion for the deployment of US troops as part of a process of "total determination" and $ 1.6 billion program to train and equip the Iraqi army and Kurdish Peshmerga forces, over two years.
Obama was asked allocated $ 5.6 billion for these operations, including 520 million Ministry of Foreign Affairs to fund the diplomatic and humanitarian efforts.
In another area of the bill extends the work restrictions on the closure of Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, the island and the decision in force since 2011, which prohibits the transfer of detainees from the US soil, and in spite of his opposition to Obama.
And prevents Congress on the Pentagon transfer any detainee from Guantanamo to US soil for any reason, whether for trial or imprisonment, or to treat it, and fear of the so-called judiciary released which poses a threat to national security, according to US lawmakers.
There are still 142 detainees at Guantanamo man.
On the other hand the bill includes new measures to combat the phenomenon of sexual abuse in the armed forces. Some of these measures prevent the military judiciary that takes into account the "good biography" of the soldiers accused of such attacks.
The defense budget, according to the value of the bill 584.2 billion dollars, including 63.7 for military operations abroad (Afghanistan, Iraq ...).
The military expenditures slightly more than half the budget "discretion" of the federal state value more (all federal spending except those allocated to social programs).
